Ametzola

Ametzola rail yard was an urban gap which meant that the only connection between the Rekalde district and other important population centres in Bilbao and the centre was reduced to a bridge. The covering of two railway lines and the relocation and demolition of the existing railway facilities led to a covering that changed the face of this area, allowing the construction of a new neighbourhood and it joined areas that until then had been separated.

The construction of a large park and a station that serves two Adif railway lines (Cercanías and Ancho Métrico), along with other urban elements, gave new life to this area, becoming one of the most relevant urban interventions carried out by BILBAO Ría 2000.
