In an area such as Ametzola, characterised by an accumulation of railway infrastructures, none of them served the population, since they were rail yards and tracks and freight stations. The Ametzola station, which was designed by IMB Arquitectos and serves the Renfe-Cercanías and Adif-Ancho Métrico lines, covers this need and enables the southern area of the city to communicate with the centre and link directly with the intermodal hubs of Abando and San Mamés.
