During the work, the transit of trains was not suspended, so an alternative route had to be created.<\/p>\n<p>The work was carried out using two techniques: a false tunnel in the first section (from Gord\u00f3niz Bridge to Plaza Eskurtze) and a mine tunnel ending in the La Pe\u00f1a district.<\/p>\n<p>Following this action, financed under a Collaboration Agreement between the Ministry of Development, Adif (initially Feve), Bilbao City Council, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and BILBAO R\u00eda 2000, the entire former Feve line, now Adif \u2013 passenger and freight \u2013 runs underground between Olabeaga and La Pe\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 m-auto m-t-20 m-b-40 p-t-20 p-b-20\" style=\"background-color: #f7f7f7;\">\n<h3>DATA SHEET<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Date of entry into service of the railway route: 26 May 2016<\/li>\n<li>Length of the new route: 1.9 km.
